These series of posts are a fascinating picture into the production of women in fantasy art. It’s a great hint into how two great artists work together. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did. The three posts focus on the production of the “John Carter of Mars” painting.
First, we see the original women in fantasy art sketches and some back story…

She is introducing our ongoing and upcoming Tarot card project. Thanks, Irene! Once again, your energy and enthusiasm inspires us!

The description below of fantasy art women was pulled from the wonderful folks over at artistsuk.co.uk. The site authors write that fantasy art is,”the art of the fantastic where dreams and fantasy are brought creatively out into the real world.” What a great description.
It is true, as they go on to say that the depiction of women in fantasy art has been around a long time. The artistic medium doesn’t matter when creating fantasy art women. Regardless of the style, technology, or platform, the vision and source are one and the same. When reading this site, I especially enjoyed the quote, “Today’s fantasy artists explore the magic that is missing from today’s technological world. Dragons, angels, faeries, wizards, demons and ghouls amongst others inhabit the realms of fantasy. Science has yet to explain fantasy and imagination so the art that springs from fantasy is a marvel beyond modern science.” You can visit them at http://www.artistsuk.co.uk/fantasy.html

So, here, we’ll explore the role of women in fantasy art and explore the work of artists from Royo to Bell, Vallejo, to De Berardinis to uncover how this form of art has impacted fantasy as a medium. And yes, we’ll try to post a whole lot of photos.
